The Situation:?This Sunday?s match-up between the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs offers not much of a guessing game as the Ravens are highly favored to outlast the Ravens in a big way as the Chiefs are on a dire slide with three blowout losses early in the season and they are not expected to untangle the big mess they are caught in anytime soon. And not against the highly revitalized Ravens who is currently fifth in offense in the NFL and 10th ranked in defense in points. On the contrary, the Chiefs will come into this game as 18th ranked in offense and 31st in defense in points.
If this is not a monumental mismatch, then I do not know what it is.
The Keys to the Game :?However, as everything in sports, nothing is certain until the final buzzer sounds and the Chiefs is hoping against hope that they could finally end their unlucky losing streak and fashion a surprising comeback win against the mighty Ravens.
But if the Chiefs have any chance for a miracle, then they need to egg on Matt Cassel to come out of the rut he found himself in lately, to refrain from committing turnovers and come-up with a mistake-free performance on Sunday. By himself, Cassel had committed a total of 10 of the 15 turnovers by the Chiefs this season.
The Ravens tight defense would surely stifle any attempt by the Chiefs to grind the yards and Cassel needs to throw the ball more often to reach the end zones.
Furthermore, running back Jamaal Charles should make the runs expected of him and heroically spearheads the Chiefs to a much needed win.
And above all, the Chiefs need to stop Ray Rice by all means necessary.
Expected Result:?Despite that there is that romantic clamor for an underdog win for the Chiefs, the Ravens are expected to romp over the Chiefs with much flair and great prowess. The Ravens need only to see consistent performances from RB Ray Rice, QB Joe Flacco and WR Torrey Smith.
The Raven?s offense this season had been so efficient with the great synergy and enthusiasm shown by the triumvirate of Rice, Flacco and Smith. Wide receiver Anquan Boldin is also having a very good season for the Ravens.
Rice is averaging 5.0 yards per carry this season. Flacco had turned-out exceptional numbers in his last two games completing 28 passes for a total of 738 yards. Smith had received 12 of those completed passes from Flacco, accumulating 224 yards. Flacco leads the league in passing yards.
Judging by the last game the Ravens had in the Chiefs home, the Ravens will once again see no trouble there. The Ravens had toppled the Chiefs in a wild-card game in2010 at Arrowhead Stadium, fashioning a lopsided 30-7 win.
