Griz fall to Eastern Washington in final minute

Peter Nguyen
MISSOULA, Mont. -

The Montana Grizzlies came up short in a last minute drive falling to Eastern Washington 32-26. The Griz looked to be in command of the game after a touchdown from running back Jordan Canada.

Montana lead by nine points with just over two minutes to go in the game. But Eastern Washington marched down field and scored in those final 2 minutes of play followed by a successful onside kick recovered by the Eagles. After the onside kick Eastern Washington went down field and scored in the final minute of play on a touchdown pass to a wide open Ashton Clark.

The Griz had one last chance to make a drive down the field trailing Eastern Washington by six points, but were not successful as time ran out after a catch from receiver Ellis Henderson. The Griz had 533 yards in total offense, including a big day on the ground as they rushed 61 times and had three players with 95 yards or more.

The Griz are now 2-3 on the year and are 0-2 in Big Sky Conference play. They will be on the road to face Northern Colorado next week.
