Editor's Note: This product has not yet been tested. The following coverage is based on information provided by the manufacturer or developer.
PhotoKey 4's main boast seems to be its ability to remove green-screen backgrounds, something other more-rounded products such as Apple Aperture 3, Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, or Corel PaintShop Pro X4 can handle. But PhotoKey can also handle other digital photo enhancing tasks, such as lighting, and color. The program can add limited effects in multiple layers, too, inlcuding blur and transparency. For more effects, you'll have to spring for the PhotoKey 4 Pro level, which costs $239.
PhotoKey's emphasis on green-screen, or "keying" means it comes with more controls over how to implement the effects, including detail, softness, erode, alpha levels, spill suppression, and light wrap. This is all fine, but what's most important is that the program can automatically remove your green screen background, as Adobe PhotoShop Elements and Apple Aperture can. It's far preferable to have the background correctly removed than to have to tinker with lots of controls.
Beyond the features already mentioned, PhotoKey can add text titles, change an images canvas size and shape. You can draw freehand masks instead of using a green screen. It can import and export JPEG, PNG and TIFF image formats of up to 25 megapixels. Versions for Windows and Mac OS X are available.?
